   Hello.

   Im trying the free version atm and i was looking into custom periods for transactions and budget yesterday(since we in Sweden often get salary on the 25th.) One thing that struck me was that if i set the period from 25th to next 25th, the next period will be from 26th to 24th or something like that depending on how many data there were in the first period. Both for budget and transactions.

   My next problem is that the budget ive made looks twisted when i look at my custom period. This because i have to budget from 1th to last every month. 314kr becomes 290kr and so on. I would like my budget to be from 25th and one month forward. Not from the first. How can i accomplish this? Otherwise this is a really nice app. The things ive mentioned is the only things keeping me from buying the full version.

   Hello,

   In the previous versions of the app it was possible to set fully customized budgets, but then we switched to calendar weeks, months, and years. So now it works much faster, and it is very easy to manage budgets, including biweekly and other custom budgets based on calendar weeks and months.
   We will think how to combine full customization you are talking about and the ease of use of the current version.

   I also want to add my part here. First about the dates. I tried to do what you've described, applied to "planned transactions". When I set a monthly planned transaction to happen on 25th each month, it occurs each 25th. I specially checked for different months, and it all happens every 25th. Could you please describe how it happens with the periods being different? I am using the latest version of Money.

   As for the Budget, as Andrey noted, Budgets are meant for big planning to help you think in terms of weeks and months rather than in terms of days. So it does not really matter for big planning when exactly you get the salary, on 25th or on 5th, in terms of a month you comply with your intentions and get the expected 314k each month. This is viewed as Budget setting, and in essence is different from planning. Then, when you have configured your main Budget points, you can go to the Planned Transactions, and plan days-specific transactions.

   Please consider adding back in the functionality from the 3.X version. I used the budget to plan out my paycheques. Planning by calendar weeks, months or years has no use for me. I need to know how much of my paycheque goes where. With the new version that is not possible at all. I realize its easy to setup customized budgets based on Calendar periods, but that doesnt provide any usefull information for my circumstance.

   If you cant add the functionality is it possible to go back to 3.4?

   trevort, the application still allows you to do this, we've only moved this function to Transactions, to rearrange the Budget. Try to go to "Planned Transactions", which is available from Transactions - and right arrow next to the bar "Transactions" on top. There you can plan it for exact dates. Then you also can rotate the iPhone, and will see a Calendar, which I think can be very useful. Please let me know how it worked.

   That does help, and the calendar is a brilliant addition to the application. However, you have also added some very nice features to the budget tab with the bars for total and individual catagories, but how can those be useful if they are not able to represent your budget period? They dont report on any time frame that I can really use.

   I guess what I am really hoping for is that the Budget tab will be able to show me a break down of my budget period, planned transactions will be represented in the bars and when i get paid my budget period will roll over to the next. This is how I had everything setup in 3.X but cant quiet do now.

   Speaking of the planned transactions to be represented in the Budget bars, then maybe you can find it helpful that planned transactions are accessible from the Budget items when going to details, and then choosing Transactions (screen bottom). As for the budget to roll over to the next period, if you do not set any exact date for the period, or if you delete an existing end date for the period, which you want to extend, then the budget record will be showing indefinitely.

   These are the current things, which I hope can help you the most. And we are constantly working on adding something more useful. Please let me know if anything of what I've described improves your current situation.

   Could it be a feature request then that planned transactions show up in the budget tab under the period they are will be applied? That way the bars and the totals would be more usefull. Currently I can plan all my transactions for the next pay cheque under planned but I cant get a total of income/expense with out adding them up, but the budget tab has it at the top already.

   I totally agree with trevort.. I've LOTS of planned budgets and I can't tell how much money I've left because the budget doesn't count these planned budgets if I don't register them.

    Well, we view planned transactions as alerts, rather than something that affects your Budget. So please approach them this way, as if they were alerts mean to remind you of when you want to make a transaction. Once you make an actual transaction, it shows up in the Budget.
