Hi, first of all, thanks for a great app! It exactly suits my needs!
I have a question how to handle investment accounts. I have an invest account linked to all my stocks, investment funds etc. After installing iBearMoney I registered all my bank accounts, savings accounts and also investment accounts with their current value.
But, the value over time changes of course in my investments. Is there a good way to track this?

Hi. I use planned transactions for accounts that change value over time. For example, my bank adds interest to my account, and I know when and how much, so I plan it ahead. Usually I don't calculate the exact amount because it is slightly different each time (they add interest to the account + previous interest), but this planned transaction serves as a reminder. When I get the actual interest, I register the translation.
The transaction category that I use is called "Bank interest", I've created it under "Income" transaction type. I also choose Agent (my bank, uploaded their logo).
Please let me know whether this answers your question because your investment account can be different from a mere bank account that I have described.

The response above works for Cash Accounts. It wont work for other Asset Accounts such as when you have Retirement Annuities to which you contribute (eg monthly). So monthly, you would incur a cash charge - which should be treated as a Transfer of Cash to the Annuity Asset. If you have say a Stock Account and you add more shares to the Account... how would you do it. Currently you would have to manualy adjust the value of that account - as you cannot add transactions to an Asset Account.

The Budgeting area can be improved to make it more realistic. Why not provide a table of 12 inputs (Jan...Dec, or whatever is the budget period) so that users can enter the budget amounts. These slots can be pre-populated with parameterised data so that the user can accept or modify the data.

I have an investment account where i monthly transfer a sum of money (say 200€). For these 200€ I buy funds and or stocks (inside the investment account/depot so to say) which will change value over time. Then I wonder:
- How to monitor the value change in your investments (plus or minus)? Only with a manual adjustment in the value of your specific investment account?
- How to register investment funds and/or stocks inside your investment account/stock depot?

Hey guys...in my opinion, this is not an investment tracking app. This is a "realized net worth" app. For example, you can track the value of your home based on your purchase price versus your mortgage and associated payments. But there is no way for it to automatically adjust the "market value" of your home, which may achieve a gain or a loss in the long run. If you want to change that it MUST be done manually and there is no chart for it since it is not a "realized" change in value until you actually purchase or sell an asset. At that point, you can register a real transaction and the cash flow chart would obviously be updated. But for unrealized gains there is no way to update them automatically and in my opinion there shouldn't be. This app would become bloated if there was an "imaginary gains/losses" input. Keep updating manually once a month guys if you want to have an accurate measure of net worth. But if you want to see a trend line of its market value then look that up in the broker's web site.
