I would not make an app specific for the iPad. You have to honestly wait and see what kind of market share this type of device will actually gain. I personally have no desire to buy an iPad since it will be a highly limited alternative to a laptop (no customization, only Apple approved apps, it just is NOT a computer replacement). The iPad is only good for people that only use the computer for the internet and nothing else. No MS Office, no printing, etc...
If I were in charge of iBearMoney I would focus on these items in the following order:
1. iPhone app enhancements
2. Desktop client for PC's
3. Synchronization between multiple devices
4. iPad integration with iPhone format
5. iPad app with iPad format only IF the device really gains significant market share (unlikely)Posted 1 year ago # -
YES! YES! YES!
Unlike others who enter all their transactions while they're out and about, which I try to do, I have a tendency to let them accumulate and then once a week enter them all. This would be easier on a large device.
I could easily do this on a desktop of course, but my intention and expectation is once I get an iPad, I'll be moving as many functions as possible to it, leaving my desktop predominately for my design work.
So, absolutely yes to iBear for iPad. And yes I'd be happy to pay again if it brings increased functionality and features.

Replying to @Nootherids's post:
I think there's sufficient indications that the marketshare for the iPad is going to be huge. Like, was it Norway where some shop offered pre-orders, and were some overwhelmed they had to stop. And I'm continually meeting people who say they want one, people who've often never owned an iPhone or Mac. I spoke to a guy yesterday who says he wants one for each member of his family.
A lot of people look at what the iPad can't do. But after seeing what developers have done with the iPhone, I'm very excited about what they'll do with the iPad.
And regards no MS Office, Microsoft has already expressed interest in developing an iPad version.
I predict the iPad will be huge. And I predict people will use it for a lot more than email and internet.
And I also predict that developers who have their apps ready to go when it's released will be the ones who have greatest success.

Yes, I would like to see an iPad App
Here's my thoughts on the matter, I'm not a user of iBearMoney at this time, but I'm out looking for an App that will do my finances for one purpose, the iPad. Most users of personal computers and laptops in the home, use them for certain things, Internet Browsing, Social Networking, Picture Storage, E-mail and Personal Finance including paying there Bills online, out of the above listed items, what is the one thing that the iPad won't do out of the box? This is why I believe that Personal Finance will be the one thing that all purchasers of the iPad will be looking for, the Finance Apps that supports the iPad are the ones that will be purchased first, before ones that are not supported.
I do agree that Synchronization is certainly something that needs to be included.

I am counting on there being an iPad version. I would use the iPad version for importing data from my bank, for viewing reports, for working on my budget, etc. In other words, while the app may do a lot on the iPhone, the iPhone is still somewhat constrained by the screen size. Once I get my iPad I expect that 90% of my work will occur on the iPad.

I agree with most of the thoughts above: "To iPad or not to iPad?" I just don't know.
But, about synchronization, I have found that iPhone apps which up-synch to a central server (e.g. ibearsoft.com) and then allow "import" (down-synch) from that central to another version of the app are by far the most useful. In that way, I can synch from my iPhone over to someone else's iPhone, or synch from my old iPhone to a new one, or from my iPhone to my iPad, or whatever.
Synch via Wifi between iPhone to iPad is too limiting.Posted 1 year ago # -
Yes I will buy an IPad version only if I could share data easily with my IPhone like Import/Export to a server.
If not, it's useless because data will never be up-to-date.Posted 1 year ago # -
